چکیده

The high-intensity proton accelerator facility in Japan comprising a 600-MeV linac, a 3-GeV rapid-cycling synchrotron, and a 50-GeV synchrotron, has been officially approved for the construction of its Phase I. The Phase I includes the 1-MW pulsed spallation neutron source, but the 50-GeV ring can be operated up to only 30 GeV. The linac energy is limited to 400 MeV, which is not high enough for the accelerator-driven nuclear waste transmutation system. The present status of the project is presented, including the result of the performance test of the already constructed components.

Synchrotron Rf System for the Jaeri-kek Joint Project

A synchrotron rf system has been designed for the JAERI-KEK Joint Project for High-Intensity Proton Accelerators in Japan. A new type of rf cavity loaded with MA(Magnetic Alloy) cores will be used for synchrotrons in order to achieve the high field gradient for the rf acceleration. The status of R&D on the cavity is also reported.

A Control System of the Joint-project Accelerator Complex

The current status of the control system for a new high intensity proton accelerator, the JAERI-KEK Joint Project, is presented. Phase 1 of the Joint Project has been approved and recently started its construction at the JAERI site at Tokai. The first beam commissioning is scheduled in 2006. In parallel with it, a 60-MeV Linac is now being constructed at the KEK site at Tsukuba for R&D purposes...

Development of a Dtl Quadrupole Magnet with a New Electroformed Hollow Coil for the Jaeri/kek Joint Project

Quadrupole electromagnets have been developed with a hollow coil produced using an improved periodic reverse electroforming. These will be installed in each of the drift tubes of the DTL (324 MHz) as part of the JAERI/ KEK Joint Project at the high-intensity proton accelerator facility. Measurements of the magnets’ properties were found to be consistent with computer-calculated estimated. The d...

Pulsed Sc Proton Linac

The superconducting (SC) proton linac is proposed in the JAERI/KEK Joint Project for a high-intensity proton accelerator in the energy region from 400 to 600 MeV. Highly stable fields in the SC cavities are required under the dynamic Lorentz force detuning. A new model describing the dynamic Lorentz detuning has been developed and the validity has been confirmed experimentally. The model has be...
